KITTERY — Security forces at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will undergo anti-terrorism training and drills this week at the Kittery dockyard.

The Portsmouth Herald reports Wednesday’s training is part of the Navy’s Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield 2016 exercise, which will be conducted on all Naval posts in the continental United States Feb. 1-12.

A release from the shipyard’s public affairs office says the exercise is designed to “enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces.”

About 300 field-training events will be held as part of Solid Curtain-Citadel Shield 2016 to test anti-terrorism protection operations across different regions.

Officials say Gate 2 on Whipple Road at the base will be closed for less than 15 minutes at some point on Wednesday as part of the exercise.
