WATERVILLE — Lauren Brown, a Waterville Senior High School senior, has been selected to receive the 2016 Principal’s Award, Acting Principal Brian Laramee said in a news release from the school. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic excellence, outstanding school citizenship, and leadership.

Brown will attend an honors luncheon planned for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor with other award winners and their principals. The luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the drawing of 10 $1,000 scholarships, twice the number awarded in previous years. Only students present at the luncheon are eligible for drawings.

“Lauren has been an outstanding school citizen at Waterville Senior High School. She has excelled not only in the classroom but also in extra/co-curricular activities. Lauren has completed many advanced placement and honors level courses and will graduate with more than 26 credits. She is a member of the National Honor Society, is a mentor to 9th graders serving as a ‘homeroom buddy’, and is a valuable member of our cross country, indoor track and outdoor track teams,” Laramee said in the release.

Brown is the daughter of Ted and Karol Brown.

The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 140 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
