Whitefield Lions Club President Lynda Despard opened its guest night meeting on Jan. 28 welcoming the District Governor for Lions District 41 Cliff Roderick, members and guests. Roderick recognized the club for its accomplishments and large membership, and presented service awards to several members.
Club Chairwoman of the Peace Poster Contest Donna Brooks introduced Savannah Millay, a Chelsea Elementary School student, as the first-place winner of the club’s Peace Poster Contest. Savannah and other students entered the contest with the help of Art Teacher Sandy Dunn. She competed against students at Chelsea, Jefferson, Whitefield and Windsor elementary schools and won first place. Her poster then went on to the Lions District, and placed first.
Savannah will now represent Maine in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
