The article in the Jan. 20 edition recognized the valuable services being provided by the Augusta Community Warming Center (“Augusta Community Warming Center provides shelter from bitter cold”).
In addition to the services and opportunities described, staff from Literacy Volunteers of Greater Augusta are available each Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning at the center to help in developing literacy skills, writing resumes or filling out applications.
This is just one of the many services that LVA offers to fulfill its mission of improving the reading, writing and related literacy skill of adults so each individual may reach their potential. In addition to tutoring services, LVA works with individuals from the Good Will LifeWorks Program and the Capitol Clubhouse.
LVA has offices at 12 Spruce St. in Augusta and can be contacted at 626-3440.
