SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan Parks & Recreation Department has planned the following events Sunday, Feb. 14 through Sunday, Feb. 21.

• Great Maine Outdoor Weekend Snowshoe Hike & Cookout will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, Lake George Regional Park, East Side.

Join the recreation department for a hike in the park. A limited number of snowshoes will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. After the short hike hot dogs will be roasted on a grill. All ages welcome to participate in this free family event.

• Vacation Fun Camp for grades 2-5 is set for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 16-19.

A week full of games and activities such as ice skating, arts and crafts, snowshoeing and bowling is planned. Participants must bring appropriate clothing for inside and outside play including a clean sneakers for indoor use only. Lunch and snack will be provided; space is limited. Cost is $20 for residents or $40 for nonresidents.

• Ice Rink Fun Day will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the Public Skating Rink located at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds.

There will be marshmallow and hot dog roasting and hot chocolate by a fire. A broomball game without skates will begin at 12:30 p.m. All ages welcome to this free family event.

• Winter Carnival is planned for noon-2:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at Skowhegan Community Center.

There will be children’s games, paper airplane flying contest, snowshoeing, cookie decorating, a fire pit, pie eating contest, a bounce house and more. All ages welcome to this free family event.
