AUGUSTA — Top-seeded Oxford Hills survived a fourth-quarter scare to defeat No. 4 Deering 45-35 in a Class AA North girls’ basketball semifinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Vikings had a 10-point lead cut to just two twice in the fourth quarter, the last time at 37-35 on two Tasia Titherington foul shots with 2:34 left. But Deering missed a chance to tie with an unforced turnover.

Then, after Jayden Colby scored on a power drive to make it 39-35, Titherington was called for an offensive foul. The Vikings hit 6 of 8 foul shots in the final 72 seconds to secure the win.

Tiana Sugars led Oxford Hills with 12 points. Titherington paced the Rams with 15.

Oxford Hills (16-3) will play No. 2 Edward Little in the regional championship game at 7 p.m. Friday at the ACC. Deering finished 12-8.

Oxford Hills used its long-range shooting to move into a 23-16 halftime lead. The Vikings hit five 3-pointers in the first two quarters. Their biggest lead was 23-13 on a fast-break layup by Jadah Adams.

Deering pulled within 23-16 when Titherington hit a contested 3-pointer from the right corner with one second left in the half.
