Go! Malawi, a Maine nonprofit that operates community and education programs in the district of Ntchisi, Malawi, also has a travel program in which students and adults can travel for two or three weeks volunteering and touring in Malawi. The next two trips scheduled are in June-July and October.

Hundreds of students and adults have experienced the Malawian culture and gained a global perspective at a reasonable cost. The goal of the trip is two-fold: for their American volunteers to support and inspire the rural Malawian community and young students they work with, as well as for the travelers to be enlightened on Third World poverty, diversity, East African culture, global sensitivity and awareness.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to join program leaders for a trip set for June 14 to July 6 or June 21 to July 12. Those interested can sign up for two or three weeks, working on the edge of the Ntchisi rainforest on conservation, health and education programs and in Senga Bay on the shores of Lake Malawi volunteering in the local schools and rural hospitals. A safari in the South Luangwa National Park in Zambia for a four-day safari, also can be arranged.

An all-adult (older than 25) two-week trip “A Taste of Malawi” is planned for mid-October.
