READFIELD — The Maranacook String Band will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Maranacook Community High School.

In the spring of 2009, three Maranacook students met after school with Stan Keach, then a Maranacook teacher, to sing and play a few songs, soon they were performing professionally in top area venues, and by 2014, they had recorded two acclaimed CDs.

The band now consists of guitarist Keach, who taught at Maranacook for 23 years, bassist Julie Davenport (class of ’11), Dana Reynolds (current Maranacook middle schooler), mandolinist Dan Simons (class of 2000), fiddler Finn Woodruff (Brunswick High School junior), and banjoist Bud Godsoe. The group also performs as the Sandy River Ramblers.

The band is getting ready to record a new CD, it will feature all original songs about Maine topics.

Admission will cost $8 in advance, or $10 at the door for adults; $4 in advance or $5 at the door for students; free for children 5 and younger; $25 for families. There will be concessions and a drawing for a quilt. The concert will benefit the Maranacook Health Center.
