Carrabassett Valley residents will be asked to contribute $100,000 toward the construction of Carrabassett Valley Academy’s new Competition Center at Sugarloaf when they vote on a $2.4 million town budget Wednesday.

The town will hold municipal elections from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Office. Town Meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Outdoor Center. Residents will vote on a 63-item warrant at the meeting. The total of the proposed budget is $2,468,475.

Running uncontested for two seats on the Board of Selectmen are incumbents Lloyd Cutler and Robert Luce. Incumbent Carl Demshar is also running uncontested for director of the Sanitary District. Competing for one seat on the School Committee is newcomer Stephen Arner who is running against incumbent Jennifer McCormick.

When the Town Meeting reconvenes at 7:30 p.m. the results of the elections will be announced.

Construction on the 11,000-square-foot CVA Competition Center is expected to begin in May and be completed by November. The center will be used collaboratively by the Sugarloaf Mountain Ski Club, Carrabassett Valley Academy and Sugarloaf and will cost $2 million to build.
