JACKMAN — Forest Hills Middle School students in Sara Hannan’s classroom recently experimented with sound waves and how they travel through matter.
The students were tasked with discovering which materials (fishing line, yarn, twine, plastic cups, foam cups, paper cups, etc.) would result in the most effective sound transmission.
Her “engineers in the making” took the task further and asked themselves why they should stop at one phone when an entire network would be more useful, so here is the fifth-grade phone network in the making, complete with “power poles.”
