Highlights of the New Sharon town meeting and election, held Saturday.
BUDGET: $911,659, approved.
MAJOR ITEMS APPROVED: Using $10,000 from the town’s surplus to establish a contingency fund for selectmen to use in the case of an emergency.
MAJOR ITEMS REJECTED: Raising salaries of selectmen, the town treasurer and the code enforcement officer for a total of $61,200 in budgeting for officer salaries. Voters approved keeping the officer salaries the same for a total of $52,000.
ATTENDANCE: 134
CONTESTED ELECTIONS: Bob Neal secured a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen with 91 votes against Mercy Hanson, who received 43 votes.
