Hi, my name is Alyson and I go to Belgrade Central School. I think all schools should do Farm to School. It is an educational project. I think schools should have a big garden and we can use the foods we grow to serve at lunch.

Another reason I support Farm to School is that learning about food will help kids eat healthy. It could also change a kid’s behavior. For example, he or she might get better at keeping a growth mindset. A growth mindset is when you are not giving up and you are on task. We learn about growth mindset when someone’s plant dies and they don’t give up and grow it again.

I think about 75 percent of kids change their behavior because of Farm to School. It can seem quite crazy but it’s true. For example, some kids are sometimes in trouble, but when they do Farm to School they might not get in trouble so much. I think this is because they like learning about real life skills, such as gardening and learning about what you eat.

I think I have even changed all ready. One thing that’s changed me is I now like school more than I used to. In Farm to School your class might do fun stuff like, cooking, growing plants, or doing the compost. I am growing bush beans. It can make kids want to go to school, or make them like it more and make it more interesting.

I think all schools should do farm to school because it can let them be outside more and prepare them for the future. I think Farm to School is really fun, and all kids should get to experience what you can learn about where food comes from.
