AUBURNDALE, Fla. — The Beavers pounded out 25 hits over two games to earn a sweep over D’Youville, 16-9 and 8-1, on Thursday.

In game one, Jimmy Parks and Grayson Beressi each had three hits for UMF. Erskine graduate Sean Cabaniss scored three runs and tripled for the Beavers. Kyle Peterson earned the win, striking out three and walking two in five innings.

In game two, UMF (6-2) scored eight runs in the first inning to complete the sweep. Erskine grad Tom Grady and Cabaniss each drove in a pair of runs. Riley Chickering pitched six innings, allowing one run, to get the win.

THOMAS 6-1, GROVE CITY 3-4: Derek Kane had a double and a triple and drove in a pair of runs to lead the Terriers to a win in game one of a doubleheader split with Grove City in Auburndale, Fla.

Connor Hope pitched four hitless innings for Thomas (3-5) to earn the win. Anree Benitez had a pair of hits for the Terriers.

In game two, Kane drove in the lone Thomas run. Messalonskee grad Zach Mathieu had a pair of hits for the Terriers. John Bini threw a complete game to earn the win for Grove City.

SOFTBALL

OSWEGO 12, UMF 5; ST. LAWRENCE 9, UMF 5: The University of Maine at Farmington pounded out 21 hits on the day but was swept by Oswego State and St. Lawrence in Clermont, Florida.

Kylie Cunningham led the Beavers (1-9) at the plate, going 5 for 8 with two RBIs. Ashley Gleason went 3 for 6 with a double, RBI and two runs scored.

WOMEN’S LACROSE

COLBY 8, CONN. COLLEGE 7: Lexie Perticone had a hat trick as ninth-ranked Colby held off Connecticut College in Clearwater, Florida.

Kendall Smith added a pair of goals for the Mules (4-1, 3-1 New England Small College Athletic Conference), who never trailed.
