LEWISTON — Derek Kane drove in three runs and scored another to lead Thomas College to a 4-2 victory over Bates in a non-conference baseball game at Leahey Field on Wednesday.

Kane also started on the mound and gave the Terriers four solid innings, but Isiah Fleming of Fairfield picked up the win with two innings of scoreless relief. Anree Benitez went 1-for-4, scored two runs and stole three bases for the Terriers (8-8). Brendan Fox had two hits and an RBI for the Bobcats (7-11).

SOUTHERN MAINE 7, BOWDOIN 2: Shyler Scates and Jake Dexter were among seven University of Southern Maine pitchers who combined to strike out 16 Bowdoin hitters as the Huskies picked up the non-conference win in Gorham.

Scates, an Erskine Academy alum, was the fifth Husky pitcher and struck out all six batters he faced to pick up the victory. Messalonskee’s Dexter struck out the side in the side in the ninth to close it out. Older brother Sam Dexter went 2-for-3 with a double, scored a run and drove in two for USM (8-5).

MEN’S LACROSSE

HUSSON 18, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 4: Brandon Corbo scored four goals, the first two of which helped Husson jump out to a 6-0 lead it would never relinquish in a North Atlantic Conference matchup at Prescott Field.

Trent Sell added three goals for the Eagles (3-5, 3-0). Nick Zavorotny and Matt Martin of Litchfield split time in net, with Martin making four saves on seven shots. Travis St. Pierre scored two goals for the Beavers (0-6, 0-3).

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

COLBY 12, KEENE STATE 4: Four Mules scored two goals apiece and Colby pulled away in the second half to knock off Keene State in a non-conference game at Bill Alfond Field.

Kendall Smith, Abby Hooper, Sasha Fritts and Claire Caputie each found the back of the net twice for the Mules (8-1), who won their seventh in a row. Izzy Scribano stopped five of nine shots she saw in the cage. Jenna Bellano and Kaitlin Nolan scored two goals apiece for Keene State.
