An inmate at the Cumberland County Jail died after he was found unresponsive Monday morning.
According to a news release from the jail, correctional officers and medical staff responded to a medical call for inmate Nikco Bashari Walton, 24.

Officers performed first aid and CPR on Walton but were unable to revive him.
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Portland Police Department are investigating his death.
