Central Maine got a strong dose of rain Tuesday, but it’s the last for more than a week, with a long stretch of warm, sunny days forecast, including temperatures in the low 70s on Sunday.

Waterville got just under an inch of rain, which was expected to let up in early evening and lead into a sunny Wednesday with highs in the low 50s, according to the National Weather Service. Rain Tuesday was lighter and intermittent in Augusta and was also forecast to end after 5 p.m. with a similar forecast of sunny weather for Wednesday.

Temperatures are forecast to climb all week before hitting the low 70s in both cities Sunday.
