MADISON — The Zumba-Thon for Veterans was held April 8 at Madison Junior High School to benefit the Veterans Programs at Togus.

More than $1,200 was raised which will be donated to programs such as the VA/VS which includes keeping the supply closets of comfort items for every veteran who is admitted, coffee/newspapers in the waiting rooms, gifts at Christmas, activities at each holiday, and items for the homeless veteran.

In the background are the lighted “Hero Bags” that were sold (approximately 150 of them) with the names of veterans, including those who had passed or are currently serving the country.

More than 50 participants did Zumba for two hours with seven different instructors which included Monica Gilbert Beach, Carol Later-Carl, Lisa Berry, Katie Bussiere, Hillary White, Tiara Nile, organizer; and Suzanne Lamb.

This event was sponsored by the Madison American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 39.
