WATERVILLE — Paige Hartnett belted a two-run, walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the Colby College softball team to a 4-3 win over rival Bowdoin in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday afternoon.

The teams started placing runners on second base in the 10th inning, and both teams came up with runs. For Bowdoin (13-10, 3-4 NESCAC), Jordan Gowdy started the top of the 10th on second base. After two straight outs, Julia Geaumont pushed Gowdy to third with a single and Claire McCarthy doubled to right field to score the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the 10th, Skylar Labbe was placed at second for Colby (7-11, 1-3 NESCAC). With one out, Hartnett hit her homer to center field to end the game.

Colby’s Julia Saul worked 7 1/3 innings, struck out seven and walked two. Holly Lallis earned her second win by allowing no runs over the final 2 2/3 innings. Meanwhile, Geaumont worked 9 1/3 innings, allowed just five hits and had one strikeout for Bowdoin.

The teams meet on Saturday in Brunswick for a doubleheader beginning at noon.

COLBY 14, BOWDOIN 3: Brooks Parker earned his first collegiate win and the Mules had seven extra base hit to beat rival Bowdoin.

Matt Garcia hit a three-run homer for Colby (6-14, 2-2 NESCAC) and scored three runs. Colby scored six runs in the sixth inning and added five more in the seventh. Dan Csaplar had three hits and a pair of RBIs for Colby.

Parker went 5 2/3 innings, struck out two, walked two and allowed six hits.

Bjorn Hansen hit a two-run home run for Bowdoin (12-9, 2-5 NESCAC).
