AUGUSTA — A city man pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of unlawful trafficking in heroin and was sentenced to an initial 18 months in jail, with an additional 4 1/2 years suspended.

Steven N. Smith, 42, was also placed on thee years’ probation and fined $800, during the hearing at the Capital Judicial Center.

The offenses occurred Nov. 19, 2015 and Jan. 25, 2016, in Augusta.

Assistant Attorney General Katie Sibley and Assistant District Tyler LeClair, who prosecuted the cases, told Judge Thomas Nale Sr. that four other drug-related charges against Smith were being dismissed in exchange for the pleas.

In a separate hearing Tuesday at the Capital Judicial Center, Nathan D. Price, 28, of Chelsea, pleaded guilty to unlawful trafficking in heroin, which allegedly took place on or about Oct. 21, 2015, and violating conditions of release, which occurred Dec. 9, 2015, both in Gardiner. He was sentenced to an initial nine months in jail with the remainder of a four-year sentence suspended, and placed on two years probation. He also was fined $400.

• Michelle Boutin, 43, of West Gardiner, operating under the influence Dec. 5, 2015, in Gardiner; 364-day jail sentence, all but 10 days suspended, to be served in the alternative sentencing program, one year probation, $700 fine, three-year license suspension; endangering the welfare of a child, dismissed.

• Ryan C. Cray, 19, of Richmond, burglary, criminal attempt and refusing to submit to arrest March 10, 2015, in Litchfield; three-year jail sentence, all suspended, two years’ probation, $200 fine, $1,940 restitution.

• Frederick N. Estevez, 31, formerly of Pittston and now of Alstead, New Hampshire, driving to endanger Nov. 17, 2013, in Manchester; $500 fine, 30-day license suspension; operating under the influence, dismissed.

• Allison R. Hutchins, 26, of Mount Vernon, operating under the influence Nov. 26, 2015, in Readfield; 364-day jail sentence, all but 12 days suspended, one year probation, three year license suspension; refusing to submit to arrest or detention, refusing to sign criminal summons, theft by unauthorized taking, dismissed.

• Yvonne M. Jones, 25, of Stonington, displaying fictitious vehicle certificate, failure to register vehicle, violating condition of release Aug. 8, 2015, in Winslow; $400 in fines.

• Angie M. Soucy, 37, of Belgrade, theft by unauthorized taking Dec. 24, 2015, in Augusta, keeping a dangerous dog Aug. 5, 2015, in Augusta, operating while license suspended or revoked and violating conditions of release, attaching false plates Sept. 2, 2015, in Manchester; $750 in fines, $810 restitution.

• James R. Taylor, 59, Berlin, New Hampshire, engaging a prostitute Sept. 17, 2015, in Augusta; $250 fine.
