CASTINE — The University of Maine at Farmington women’s lacrosse team rebounded from a slow start to pick up a 13-5 win over Maine Maritime Tuesday at Ritchie Field.

Carly Raymond had four goals and two assists to lead the Beavers, who fell behind 2-0 early in the first half. Sierra Gilley added three goals and two assists in the win for UMF (4-6, 2-4 North Atlantic Conference), while Jaclyn Langevin chipped in with three goals as well.

Rachael Redles had three goals to lead Maine Maritime (0-13, 0-6 NAC).

BASEBALL

BATES 6, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: The Bobcats had seven pitchers combine to throw a one-hitter and scored all six of their runs in the fifth innings in a win over Beavers in Lewiston.

Brendan Fox sparked the fifth inning rally for Bates (10-12) with a two-run double and John Dinucci capped the scoring with a two-run homer. The Bobcats also got an RBI triple from Sam Warren and an RBI single from Conor Reenstierna during the inning.

Nick Attaliades-Ryan had the lone hit for UMF (12-11), which put just five runners on base all game.

MAINE 11, UMAINE-PRESQUE ISLE 0: Danny Casals hit a three-run homer during a five-run second inning and added an RBI single during a four-run fifth inning as the Black Bears (10-23) cruised past the Owls (8-21) in Orono.

Tyler Schwanz finished with four hits and two runs scored for the Black Bears and Brett Chappell added two hits, two runs scored and one RBI.

Maine also got two RBIs apiece from Kevin Stypulkowski and Jonathan Salcedo.

Five Black Bear pitchers combined to give up just two hits and three walks while striking out nine batters.
