PALMER, Mass. — Two Maine women have been arrested after police say they were spotted in the rear of a western Massachusetts cemetery with nearly 1,200 bags of heroin in their car.

Lt. Christopher Burns tells WWLP-TV that officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle at the Four Corners Cemetery in Palmer at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when they saw bags of heroin inside.

Investigators say they also found nearly four grams of cocaine, hash oil and $144 in cash.

Police arrested 28-year-old Ann-Marie DeJesus and 29-year-old Angela Wheatley, both of Millinocket, Maine, on drug charges.

The women are scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

It’s unclear if they have an attorney.
