A Fairfield motorcyclist was injured in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning on Route 27 in Pittston.

Robert Parker, 57, was taken by ambulance to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta, according to Trooper Mark Ferreira, of the Maine State Police, who investigated the accident, which occurred about 9:45 a.m. between Amity Lane and State Road.

Ferreira said driver inexperience caused the crash, and the motorcyclist took the corner too fast.

“He was fortunate enough to bail off before the motorcycle went end over end several times,” Ferreira said.

Parker was wearing a helmet, which the trooper said helped prevent more serious head injuries.

Ferreira said the man appeared to suffer mostly hip or lower back injuries.

Pittston Fire Department personnel responded to the accident report to help with traffic control.
