AUGUSTA — Claire Crocker had four goals to lead Gardiner past Cony 11-5 in Class B North girls lacrosse action Thursday.

Evie Hinkley added three goals for Gardiner (1-0) while Nickyia Lovely chipped in two. Maddy Beaulieu had a goal and an assist for the Tigers and Hailee Lovely added the final goal. Bryce Smith made three saves.

Annie Brannigan led Cony (0-1) with two goals while Savannah Poulin, Lexie Roy and Julia Nicole had one goal apiece. Elizabeth Dennison made eight saves.

ERSKINE 6, BOOTHBAY 4: The Eagles shut out the Seahawks after halftime to score a come-from-behind win in South China.

Hayley Hinds scored both of her goals in the second half for Erskine (1-0), which trailed 4-2 at halftime. Keeley Gomes added a goal and an assist, while Mallorie Weaver made 14 saves in goal.

Kate Friant had two goals and two assists to pace Boothbay (0-1).

MESSALONSKEE 14, MT. ARARAT 3: Ally Turner and Lauren Picket scored four goals each to lead Messalonskee (1-0) to a win in its season opener in a KVAC A game played in Topsham.

Lydia Dexter and India Languet added two goals each in the win while Sydni Collier made eight saves in goal.

Emily Welch had a pair of goals to lead Mt. Ararat (0-2).

COLLEGE BASEBALL

HUSSON 11-6, THOMAS 1-3: The Terriers wrapped up the regular season on Thursday with a pair of losses to the Eagles at H. Allen Ryan Field in Waterville.

Brandon Reilly kept Thomas (19-18, 13-11 NAC) in check in the opener, throwing all seven innings while allowing seven hits and one walk while striking out one. Christian Corneil paced the Husson (17-18, 12-8 NAC) offense, going 4 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. J.T. Whitten, of Waterville, went 3 for 4 with an RBI and run scored. Anree Benitez went 2 for 3 with a run scored for the Terriers.

In Game 2, the Eagles jumped ahead 4-0 through the first two innings and never relinquished their lead. Andrew Curran went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Ryan Rebar was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored for Husson.

Messalonskee graduate Zach Mathieu had two hits for Thomas while Benitez drove in a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning with a triple. He later scored on a Derek Kane sacrifice fly.

COLLEGE SOFTBALL

PLYMOUTH STATE 7-11, THOMAS 5-3: The Panthers scored at least one run in eight of the 12 innings played to sweep a doubleheader with the Terriers at D&M Park in Plymouth, New Hampshire.

In a 5-5 game in the bottom of the fourth of the opener Plymouth State (16-22) jumped ahead for good on an RBI double by Autumn Beyor and RBI single from Katie Kennard. Abrie Davis also had three hits and two RBIs in the win. Jordanna Agger drove in a pair of runs for Thomas (15-16) in Game 1, including one on a solo home run in the second inning.

The Panthers pounded out 14 hits in Game 2 to win decidedly. Nicole Abreau had a grand slam in the bottom of the first innings to lead the onsluaght. Brittany Ward was 2 for 3 with two RBIs for the Terriers.
