Students at the Henry L. Cottrell Elementary School in Monmouth held its 10th annual Farm Days Wednesday for students.

School students got up close with farm animals and heard from presenters on different topics, according to Principal Deborah Emery. Participating farms from Monmouth were Grace Pond Farm, Autumn Day Farm and Beautiful Day Farm.

Among the presenters, third-grader Alexis Child showed a calf she is raising for 4H; June Foyt, a fourth-grade student, explained the life cycle of honeybees; Caroline Balano-Stott, a junior at Monmouth Academy, showed off hens she has raised; Tori Jackson, of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, talked about potatoes in Maine; and Chris Hillier, presented a cabbage workshop.
