Our area lost a wonderful public official last year when my dear friend Bev Daggett passed away after struggling for many years with serious medical issues. She was thoughtful, funny and a real problem-solver. Whomever is elected this year to her county commissioner position has big shoes to fill. Fortunately, Patsy Crockett has been appointed to temporarily fill that position. She knows a great deal about the issues affecting county governments in Maine from working for a number of years for the Maine County Commissioners Association.

Patsy is running in the June 14 Democratic primary election against two opponents, and she needs to win that election in order to remain as our county commissioner. With her knowledge of county government, I’d like to see Patsy follow Daggett’s term so she can apply her knowledge to the needs of Kennebec County.
