Local voters have a choice to make at the June 14 primary. Mike Perkins is running for the House District 77, which covers Sidney and most of Oakland. He has served Oakland on the Town Council for years.

His opponent from Sidney is on the Sidney Select Board and voted to ignore the contract they signed with Oakland to share expenses of a radio transmitter on High Street. She voted not to pay the remaining $3,420 on the lease and stick this onto the Oakland taxpayers. Her actions during the hearing came very close to jeopardizing the long-standing mutual aid agreement between the Oakland and Sidney fire departments. Oakland decided pursuing this further was not worth the chance of destroying the agreements between our departments.

Think this over and vote for someone who encourages corporation between the communities rather than disagreements.
