As our son graduates this June and our daughter’s eighth-grade year comes to a close, we wanted to offer our deepest appreciation to all of the devoted people that have taught and supported our children and the city of Augusta’s children over the years. We are grateful for each and every teacher and their innovative and interesting lesson plans, their willingness to listen to their students’ and parents’ concerns, their dedication to continue their work day well into their evenings, weekends and vacations, their compassion when a student or parent shares a private angst, their high standards when it comes to the curriculum and their structured behavioral guidelines.

We are also grateful for the administrators in the district that often have the thankless job of keeping students safe and holding students accountable, which is sometimes a monumental effort. Administrators make sure that the jobs of the teachers and staff can be carried out effectively during the day and then manage to attend the after hours events in the evenings and weekends even though they all have families and commitments of their own.

Lastly, we are grateful for the Augusta School Board. These committed people work diligently to make the Augusta schools better than ever by advocating for our students and the programs and policies that benefit them the most. We are proud that our children are students in the Augusta School District. In this day and age where many choose to point fingers at others rather than work together to be part of the solution, we wanted to speak on behalf of our family, and others, who appreciate all the efforts of the teachers, staff, administrators and school board members in Augusta. Thank you for all that you do.
