FARMINGTON — Dressed in blue gowns with gold stoles, the Mt. Blue High School Class of 2016 walked into the school’s gymnasium Sunday ending one chapter of their lives and beginning the next.

“It’s time to begin, isn’t it,” rang out as the class’ song “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons played while the 176 graduating seniors took their seats.

The 1 p.m. graduation featured speeches from graduating students Mitch Guillaume, Mirium Cohen and Brianna McDonald. Mt. Blue High School principal Bruce Mochamer also addressed the students and audience before the class members received their diplomas.

Interspersed with the speeches were student musical performances. Graduating seniors Jack Leopold and Anna Glass performed John Mayer’s song “Stop This Rain.” Leopold also performed with Cohen and Roshan Luick, singing the Fleet Foxes song “Helpless Blues.”

Musical performances by The Flipsides and the Franklin County Fiddlers were also featured at the hour and a half long ceremony.

To increase the number of guests students could bring to graduation, the ceremony was live streamed into the school’s auditorium. Seniors were given six tickets for the gymnasium and three for the auditorium.
