MONMOUTH — The University of Maine Cooperative Extension will host a free cover crop management field day at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, at UMaine’s Highmoor Research Farm, 52 U.S. Route 202.

Topics will include considerations to make before planting a cover crop, and adjustments that can be made to existing cover crop management systems for increased return on investments. Cover crop management practices, including benefits and drawbacks of planting single species or mixed cover crops, will be discussed and demonstrated, as well as cover crop termination methods such as the use of roller crimper and strip tillage tools.
