AUGUSTA — The Maranacook String Band will perform a free concert from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, the Red Barn Restaurant, 455 Riverside Drive. This concert is part of the The Red Barn series of Tuesday concerts.

The Bluegrass band began as a Gifted/Talented Education project at Maranacook Community High School in Readfield, under the leadership of teacher Stan Keach. Keach is now retired, and the String Band is a professional band, with a six-year history of concerts throughout central Maine.

The band features the lead and harmony singing of Julie Davenport and Dana Reynolds; the virtuoso instrumental stylings of Bud Godsoe (banjo), Dan Simons (mandolin), and Finn Woodruff (fiddle); many original songs about Maine topics; and plenty of humor.
