OAKLAND — The Town Council will discuss bids from two real estate companies to sell a foreclosed Railroad Avenue property when it meets Wednesday.
The council will also discuss OakFest and nominations for a Regional School Unit 18 cost-sharing committee when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Oakland Fire Station.
Century 21 and Snow Pond Real Estate have both bid to sell the house at 21 Railroad Ave., which was left vacant and foreclosed on by the bank. The city took the property from the bank last month to sell it after the sewer bills weren’t paid.
Councilors will also discuss a request from RSU 18 that its five towns create a cost-sharing committee. The Oakland-based district also includes China, Rome, Belgrade and Sidney.
Town Manager Gary Bowman said Friday that the committee, which is formed every few years, looks at the percent each town is putting toward the district and whether adjustments should be made. The Town Council will discuss and select two residents to sit on the committee.
Bowman will update the council on the town’s plans for OakFest. It will be the second year for the summer celebration.
This year OakFest is on July 22, 23 and 24, and the fishing derby is on July 17.
“It’s gonna be a blast this year,” Bowman said.
Council members will also choose from three bids for a new police cruiser. The lowest bid is $27,076 and the highest bid is $29,310.
Bowman will also present updates on the plan for a gazebo at the Oakland Boat Landing.
