The Healthy Community Coalition will kick off its Family Fun in the Sun theme from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Kineowatha Park in Wilton. HCC staff will be on hand to encourage participants to play a lawn game, and to try out the new canoe, kayaks and paddleboards free of charge that were purchased for community use.

Subsequent Family Fun in the Sun events are planned on the following dates and will feature the mobile health unit with staff offering fun physical activities and nutrition education:

• Stratton Family Fun Days from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25;

• Farmington Summer Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 23;

• Kineowatha Park, is Wilton, is set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4;

• Wilton Blueberry Festival is planned for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5;

• Phillips Old Home Days will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19;

• Farmington Fair is set for 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 21 and 24.

The canoe, kayaks and paddle boards will be available throughout the summer, free of charge for area students and available for a small fee for others. Equipment and Family Fun in the Sun events are made possible through funding from the Carol M. White Physical Education Program grant.
