SIDNEY — Snow Pond Center for the Arts and the New England Music Camp announce their 2016 Summer Music Series. This season will feature Snow Pond’s Symphony Orchestra, to big band jazz with Al Corey under the stars, and onto NEMC’s 37th Annual Pops Concert.

The Maine Youth Rock Orchestra will perform Tuesday, July 12, an evening concert during a picnic at the Bowl In the Pines. The Maine Youth Rock Orchestra runs in conjunction with the Maine Academy of Modern Music and features students 10-18 years old. MYRO has performed across the country with more than two dozen rock bands and groups. The Performance will begin at 6 p.m., doors will open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adult, $10 for student. There will also be a barbecue picnic available, cost is $10 for adult, $5 for student, children and seniors 65 and older.

New England Music Camp will present their 37th Annual Pops Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 16, the Messalonskee Performing Arts Center in Oakland. The NEMC Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band, Chorale, and Jazz Ensemble perform in this energetic performance that will also features a silent auction. All proceeds will benefit the NEMC scholarship fund. Tickets cost $20.

An NEMC tradition, Maine Appreciation Day, will be celebrated at the Sunday, July 17, concert. The Artisan Market will begin at 1 p.m. and run throughout the 3 p.m. concert. Bowl-In-The-Pines is set for 1-5 p.m. and is free to the public.

Under the Stars feturing the Big Band Jazz and the Al Corey big band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 30. at Snow Pond. This one-night-only concert will also feature saxophonist and jazz sensation, Bill McHenry, an NEMC alum. Tickets cost $20 for adult, $10 for students.

Alumni Guest Artist, Giora Schmidt, violin, will play several free performances including soloing with the NEMC Symphony Orchestra at the 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at NEMC.

New England Music Camp’s musical theater students will conclude the season in their performance of “Little Women,” The Broadway Musical, book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland, and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. Directed by Marian Murphy Powell. Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and 5 in Alumni Hall. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students $10; seating is limited.

Free weekend concerts and weekly recitals will be held throughout the summer. All concerts will be held at the Bowl-In-The Pines and all recitals at Alumni Hall. NEMC Concerto Competition winners will perform with the faculty orchestra on July 15 and 29.

Concert Dates: July 2, 3, 9, 10, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31, Aug. 6 and 7.

Faculty Artist Recital Dates: June 28, July 6, 20 and 22.

Student Honor Recitals Dates: July 8, 13, 15, 27, 29 and Aug. 2.

NEMC Counselor Recital: July 1.

Snow Pond will close the summer with December ’63, The Frankie Valli and Four Seasons Tribute. This one night only performance will be under the lights at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the Bowl-In-The-Pines. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $10 for students.

All proceeds from ticketed events go towards student scholarships, instruments and other Snow Pond Center for the Arts programs.
