ROCHESTER, N.H. — Augusta broke out its bats Tuesday afternoon in 13-and-under Babe Ruth New England regional pool play action against Taunton, Massachusetts, but ultimately dropped an 11-9 decision.

Augusta banged out 10 hits, including four from Akira Warren and two from Logan Dupont, and rallied late before Taunton held on for the victory.

Augusta finished the tournament 1-2 but fell short of advancing to the semifinals.

Warren had two doubles and Bobby Stolt also drove in a pair for Augusta.

Chris Fernandez and Gabriel Roderiquez each drove in three runs to lead Taunton (2-1). Alyjah Marshall, Don McDougal, Fernandez and Roderiquez each had three hits for Taunton.

Fernandez picked up the victory, allowing one hit and a run in 1 2/3 innings in relief of McDougal. Augusta used five pitchers.
