HINCKLEY — L.C. Bates Museum , U.S. Route 201, has announces its August summer programs. The programs will explore history, nature and space.

The museum’s annual Teddy Bear Tea is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Bring a bear or stuffed animal for iced tea, lemonade and cookies. The history of teddy bears will be discussed, and a scavenger hunt will take place inside or along the trails depending on weather. Participants can visit the museum bears and make a fun bear craft to bring home. All ages welcome.

The Perseid meteor showers Moth and Meteors Night will be offered at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. The Perseid meteor showers will be discussed, with a chance to lay out in the field to view the shower, and set up moth lights and bait to enjoy some nocturnal insects that visit. Bring a towel or blanket and a flashlight!

Watercolors of Birds at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 in the museum gallery is planned. Open to all ages, this exploration in the bird room encourages visitors to paint and create in a museum setting. All levels of artists are welcome; materials will be provided.

Learn about rocks and minerals at a Rocks Rock!! Activity set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The human fascination with rocks will be celebrated with collections and programs. Those who attend can explore rocks, make a small collection to bring home, try opening a geode, look under a backlight, and gaze through fiber optics.
