Maine people are hard-working, but we lack the economic opportunities once abundant in central Maine. We need to do more to support Maine businesses, especially manufacturers. Manufacturing jobs pay good wages and good benefits. I would know. I’ve been fortunate to work for Diamond International in Oakland and Scott Paper, now Sappi, for 34 years.

This is why I am supporting Rep. Henry Beck, D-Waterville, for state Senate. Beck voted to support Maine manufacturers and businesses in the awarding state contracts, for natural gas options for local manufacturers like Sappi and Huhtamaki, and to move Maine forward in the area of solar energy and solar project development.

We must support the businesses we have, and also be open to new development and new technologies. I know Beck understands this.

Beck’s record and commitment in the area of economic development has earned him my vote. He will serve our businesses and working people well in the Senate.
