SOUTH CHINA — Preschool registration and an open house for the free Head Start preschool program is planned for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Lake Region Head Start Center, 165 Lakeview Drive.
Children who are 3 or 4 years old by Oct. 15 and from any of the surrounding communities are welcome to register. Families will need to provide proof of family income as part of the Head Start application process.
Families can stop in and meet the teacher and tour the early childhood education center. There will be demonstrations of early literacy and math curriculum for young children, and hands on learning activities for children.
Southern Kennebec Child Development Corporation serves more than 300 families each year in its 11 locations and has programs for pregnant families, infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
