The Rev. Chong Choi took over the pulpit from retiring Judy Gould on July 3, where he will serve both Fairfield United and Clinton’s Brown Memorial Methodist churches.

Choi was born in South Korea and immigrated to the U.S. as a young man. Arriving in New York he later moved to Los Angeles, California. Not in ministry at that time he owned his own trading company and freight forwarding company. After years of success in that venture, he felt a calling from God to serve in the ministry. He enrolled in the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., and later finished his training at Bangor Theological Seminary, introducing him to the state of Maine.

Entering the ministry was not an easy decision for him as he was starting this far later in life than most, but he is very glad he did.

His previous parishes were in Bridgton, Maine, Warwick, Rhode Island, and most recently in Middleboro, Massachusetts.

He and his wife Kay are happy to be back in Maine, a place they love.
