The following 2016 graduates each received one of 20 Maine Red Sox Service Scholarships presented to graduating seniors from Maine public high schools this year.

Local graduates receiving scholarships were: Braydn Fitzmaurice, Skowhegan Area High School; Jonathan Doucette, Waterville Senior High School; and Taylor Easler, Messalonskee High School.

As a sponsor of the program, the Ford Motor Company Fund’s, Gerry Miles was on the field to help present the students with their awards at Fenway Park prior to last Sunday’s Red Sox game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This is the scholarship program’s third year in Maine. It was first launched in New Hampshire in 2010 and now runs in all five New England states outside of Massachusetts. The $1,000 Red Sox Service Scholarships are awarded to students based on academic performance, financial aid eligibility, and demonstrated community service.

This Fall, Fitzmaurice plans to attend the Maine Maritime Academy, Doucette plans to attend Husson University, and Easler plans to attend the University of Rhode Island.

Joshua Maillet, of Rumford, Mountain Valley High School, plans to attend Colby College.

Joshua Martin, of LaGrange, Penquis Valley High School, plans to attend Husson University.

Kelli Kennedy, of Milbridge, Narraguagus High School, plans to attend Bates College.

Lucie Boneville, of Belfast, Belfast Area High School, plans to attends Univeristy of Maine.

Lydia Tilley, of Newburgh, Hampden Academy, plans to attend University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Mariah Korst, of Dexter, Dexter Regional High School, plans to attend Kennebec Valley Community College.

Michaela Dube, of Chapman, Presque Isle High School, plans to atttend Johnson State College.

Nicole Pires, of Farmington, Mt. Blue High School, plans to attend University of Vermont.
