The death of a Massachusetts woman who fell from a sleeping loft while visiting her sister’s home in Rockwood was “a tragic accident,” police said Friday.

Kendra Donovan, 54, died early Friday when she fell 10 feet to the floor from the sleeping loft, said James Ross, chief deputy for the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

He said the death on Spruce Street is not suspicious and that neither drugs nor alcohol was involved in the fall.

“During the early morning hours she apparently got up, possibly disoriented in the dark and fell from the sleeping loft to the floor, 10 feet below,” Ross said. “The loft was only partially enclosed by railings.”

Somerset County Deputy Wilfred Dodge and Detective Jeremy Leal responded “and found it to have been a tragic accident” Ross said.

He said he had no other details on the death of Donovan, of Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts.
