Maine State Police said James Maloney, 56, was driving a Jeep on Route 7 and was hit by a pickup truck traveling on the Amsden Road about 12:47 a.m.

Maloney was thrown from the Jeep and died at the scene. His wife, Susan Boudreau-Maloney, suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

The young man who was driving the pickup truck was not hurt.
