Large piles of wood chips at a lawn and garden business in Poland caught fire on Sunday, requiring area fire departments to fight the blaze for hours, WCSH-TV reported.

The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. at Oldcastle Lawn and Garden on Spring Water Road, according to the Portland TV station.

It said Poland firefighters spent hours applying a steady stream of water. Crews from Otisfield, New Gloucester, Raymond, Norway, Durham and other departments assisted in the effort, while a Maine Forest Rangers helicopter dumped water on the blaze from above.

In 2008, another fire at the same site burned 14 acres and destroyed several buildings, according to WCSH.

Fire officials could not be reached Sunday night for additional information on the fire.
