A section of Route 1 in Scarborough was closed for several hours Wednesday because of a serious, head-on car crash between a pickup truck and a dump truck.

Police said a late-model Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by Donald Goff, 38, crossed the center line and struck a Chevrolet 3500 dump truck that was towing a small excavator.

The occupants of the dump truck, Santos Molina, 42, and James Sargent, 46, were injured in the crash, along with Goff and Goff’s juvenile son, who was traveling with him. All four were transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Scarborough police re-opened Route 1 about 2:30 p.m.
