Over the past year, there has been a lot of talk about drugs coming from out of state, and very little about Mainers going out of state to buy the drugs to bring back and sell.

Most Mainers know drugs are expensive, but some use them anyway. Many commit crimes to support their habit, and most buy from friends or people they know. Maybe they think they will not become addicted but realize it too late and are unable to stop.

The only way this problem is going to stop is if Mainers stop buying drugs. Arresting all drug users will not end this problem. Treatment is the next best cure, but the state has been very slow to deal with that area of the drug problem.
