MADISON — Madeline Wood scored twice and assisted on two other goals as Madison beat Winthrop 7-0 in a Mountain Valley Conference girls soccer game Thursday.

Wood, who has five goals this season, scored twice in a span of 2:05 in the first half to open the scoring for Madison (2-1-0). Whitney Bess added two goals and an assist in the win.

Sydney LeBlanc, Jillian Holden and Annie Worthen also scored.

Shie Smith made 21 saves for Winthrop (1-1-1).

HAMPDEN 4, SKOWHEGAN 1: The Broncos scored four times en route to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win in Skowhegan.

Sydney Ames scored for Skowhegan (0-3-0), while Amber Mary made 10 saves in goal.

Melissa Reichez, Ashley Mahoney and Helen Schrader scored for Hampden (2-1-0).

FIELD HOCKEY

LAWRENCE 10, MARANACOOK 0: Lexi Laverdiere and Lexi Lewis each scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs to the KVAC victory in Fairfield. Katelyn Gerow, Nora Buck, Cass Poli, Miranda Lambert, Molly Folsom and Hannah Hershey also scored for Lawrence (3-1). Carolina Bachelder had 19 saves for the Black Bears (0-3).

MT. BLUE 1, SKOWHEGAN 0: Adelle Foss scored off a corner in the second half and the Cougars defense made it stand en route to the KVAC A victory. Hannah Minns had the assist.

Erika McArthur had 15 saves for Mt. Blue (4-0).

Skowhegan, which had an 11-2 edge in corners, dropped to 3-1.

BOYS SOCCER

HALL-DALE 3, CARRABEC 1: Josh Nadeau scored two goals and Austin Stebbins had a goal and an assist to lead the Bulldogs (2-0-1) to the MVC victory in North Anson.

Senior John Whitcomb had two saves for Hall-Dale while Seth Padelford had seven for Carrabec (0-2-0).

Dustin Crawford scored on a penalty kick for the Cobras.

MT. ABRAM 1, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0: Freshman Tyson Hill scored in the first half as the Roadrunners posted the MVC shutout in Salem.

Xavier Romanoski made three saves to earn the shutout for Mt. Abram (1-1-1), while Jonathan Jordan assisted on the winning goal.

Jacob Beauchane made 15 saves for Mountain Valley (0-2-1).
