A Burnham man who is a convicted sex offender was arrested Thursday and charged with possessing child pornography, police said.
David Cook, 59, was charged with possessing sexually explicit material after Maine State Police received a tip and sent its computer crimes unit to search Cook’s South Horseback Road home, according to a news release Friday from the agency.
Police said a search of Cook’s computer showed images of child pornography. Cook was taken to the Waldo County Jail in Belfast and his computer was seized for further examination by the computer crime laboratory personnel, according to the release.
Cook was convicted in 1990 of rape and gross sexual misconduct involving a child under the age of 14 and sentenced to six years in prison, police said.
