I am delighted to recommend Jim Torbert of Whitefield for the Maine House District 88 seat (Chelsea, Whitefield, Jefferson and part of Nobleboro).

Over the 20 years that I have known Jim, I have found him to be a person who is both reasonable about thorny policy issues facing the state as well as passionate about the core issues that define him. One of those is education — as a retired teacher, Jim is concerned about both the quality and financing of education. As the state’s share of education funding erodes, the property tax burden on small towns like his escalates.

Jim has an additional background in family farming and small business and is excited about the resurgence of this economic sector in the rural towns of his district.

Finally, Jim is an excellent listener, as you will discover when he comes to your door this campaign season.
