FARMINGTON — Colorado’s Acoustic Eidolon, featuring duo of Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire will grace the stage at Old South First Congregational Church, 235 Main St., At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20.
Scott plays a dos neckie or “double-necked guitjo” which he designed and had made in 1991. The unique design has seven banjo-like bottom strings, on which the melody is played, with seven top bass strings. Phoenix, as Alkire fondly calls her cello, was wrecked in a plane crash, and then rebuilt in 2005.
Their performances are filled with a variety of styles and original songs about life, family, favorite places, as well as their renditions of favorites like “Stairway to Heaven” and “Eleanor Rigby”. They have created musical magic all over the world, playing at area venues and with symphony orchestras.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m., InnerRhythm, the women’s frame drum group, based at Old South Church, invites folks to join them for some rhythm making in a drum circle in the church vestry.
Various percussion instruments will be available; no instruments or musical experience is required to participate in the event for all ages. The circle will be capped off with a solo performance on tambourine by the drummers.
In their 10 years of learning and playing together, the women of InnerRhythym have played for worship services, gallery openings, downtown festivals, and art walk. Members of the drummers are Sheri Jenckes, Sheri Leahan, Donna Wheeler, Mardy Bogar, Fran Addicott, and Karyl Condit. They are passionate about sharing their love of rhythm and drumming with all ages.
Admission will cost $20 for adults $20 with discounted student rates (including college with current ids). Refreshments will be available for donation during intermission. Reservated tickets are encouraged by calling 491-5919 or 778-0111.
