Julia Wainwright, of Gardiner, was named one of 13 recipients of Wright-Pierce company’s 2016 Student Scholarship program. Wainwright is a sophomore at Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Dave Wainwright, IT specialist, at Wright-Pierce.
The 12 other recipients include Matthew Atherton, Jocelyn Davee, Megan Hallowell, Alexander Olson, Erin Olson, Abigail Pearce, Hannah Peters, Emma Soucek, Lucy Soucek, Madeline Wiegman and Alex Williamson.

The scholarship program was initiated 54 years ago to honor the sons and daughters of Wright-Pierce employees for academic achievement. Since 1962, the scholarships have been awarded to more than 275 students.
