Game wardens found a 76-year-old man with dementia after he got lost in the woods in Camden Tuesday night.

Camden police requested assistance from the Maine Warden Service about 10 p.m. in their search for Peaceful Dawn, who was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on John Street near the entrance to an assisted living facility where Dawn lives.

With the assistance of a tracking dog, Warden Cpl. Michelle Merrifield located Dawn near some power lines. Dawn had walked into a swampy area and could no longer move. He was confused, dehydrated and weak, and his legs were covered with abrasions.

Because of the difficulty police had in removing Dawn from the swampy area, Camden firefighters assisted and carried Dawn back to a waiting ambulance where he was evaluated.
